Biografie

Richard R. He (1996) is een Zweedse componist en pianist woonachtig in België. Zijn muzikale achtergrond is gevormd door zijn academische opleiding in klassieke muziek. Echter, zijn eigen muziek streeft naar psychedelische en transcendentale klanken met invloeden van rock, minimalisme en elektronische muziek.

Hij heeft verschillende prijzen gewonnen, o.a. de Arts in Society Award 2021 (België), de derde prijs in de Vic Nees Compositiewedstrijd 2020 (België), de Stim-Beurs in 2020 (Zweden) en de eerste prijs in de Chieri International Music Competition 2019 (Italië) in kamermuziek onder de naam “Duo Volgaris” (met Bartolomeo Audisio, solofluitist in Shanghai Symphony Orchestra). In “Kaleidoscope Call for Scores 2020” was hij met zijn stuk “Transcendental Beats” een van de finalisten uit 7.800 kandidaten.

Zijn eerste werk voor het orkest “introspect” was uitgevoerd door Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, onder leiding van José Luis Gómez in Bozar (Brussel), Brugge Concertgebouw, de Bijloke (Gent) en deSingel (Antwerpen). In Mei 2022 is er voorstellingen met zijn muziek gepland met de Kroatische sopraan Jelena Stefanic in de nationale theater in Varaždin. Zijn muziek is ook uitgevoerd door ZWERM Electric Guitar Quartet en de pianist Marianne Jacobs.

R.R. He is afgestudeerd in Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen in de richting Compositie met docenten Wim Henderickx en Alain Craens. Hij studeert nu de master-opleiding in piano onder leiding van Sergei Edelmann. Hij heeft eerder lessen gevolgd bij Ass.Prof. Marianne Jacobs, Malmö, en Joël Bons, Amsterdam (winnaar Grawemeyer Award 2019). Ook heeft hij verscheidende masterclasses in Oostenrijk, Engeland, Denemarken, Zweden, België en Litouwen gevolgd.

Zijn debuutalbum “Regression” is uitgegeven in digitale muziekplatformen onder de naam “Duo Volgaris”, waar hoge erkenning is ontvangen door de krant “Ystads Allehanda”. Momenteel is hij een lid van Componisten Archipel Vlaanderen.

Richard R. He (1996) is a Swedish-born pianist and composer currently residing in Belgium. With classical music performance as his musical foundation, his own compositions aim for psychedelic and transcendent sounds with influences from rock, minimalism and electronic music.

He has been awarded numerous awards, including the Arts in Society Award 2021 (Belgium), third prize of the Vic Nees Composition Competition 2020 (Belgium), the STIM-scholarship (Sweden) in 2020 and the first prize in Chieri International Music Competition 2019 (Italy) in chamber music as Duo Volgaris (with Bartolomeo Audisio, principal flautist of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra). In “Kaleidoscope Call for Scores 2020”, he was one of the finalists among 7.800 applications with his piece “Transcendental Beats”.

His work “introspect” was performed by Flanders Symphony Orchestra (Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen) under the direction of José Luis Gómez in Bozar (Brussels), Brugge Concertgebouw, de Bijloke (Gent) and deSingel (Antwerp). Future performances of his music are planned with Croatian soprano Jelena Stefanic in Varaždin National Theatre during May 2022. His music has also been performed by ZWERM Electric Guitar Quartet and the pianist Marianne Jacobs, among others.

R.R. He graduated composition in Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in the class of Wim Henderickx and Alain Craens. He is currently studying piano at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp with Prof. Sergei Edelmann. He has previously studied with Ass.Prof. Marianne Jacobs, Malmö and Joël Bons, Amsterdam (winner of the Grawemeyer Award 2019), among many others in various master classes in Austria, England, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and Lithuania.

His debut-album “Regression” is released on digital platforms as “Duo Volgaris”, which received high acclaims from the newspaper “Ystads Allehanda”. At the moment, he is a member of Flanders Composers Archipelago (ComAV).
