Biografie
The Marcante Quintet was founded in 2017 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, at which the five musicians currently study in their second year of bachelor. They have had lessons from Frank van de Laar and Jelena Očić.
Piano: Jurn Tjoa: Jurn Tjoa (1998) began his piano studies in his Dutch birthplace Houten with teacher René Maurer. In 2014 he received a first price at the National Final of the Prinses Christina Concours in the category age 15 to 19. Since 2015 Jurn studies with Frank Peters at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
First violin: Daniel Leenders: Daniel (1998) plays violin since the age of 3. He was a former student at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and the Conservatoire Royal de Mons. Daniel won several prizes at competitions such as Prinses Christina Concours, SJMN, Nedjalka Simeonova International Violin Competition and Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition. Daniel is currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Peter Brunt. The instrument Daniel is playing on is a Giulio Degani (1902) on loan from the Nationaal Muziekinstrumentenfonds.
Second Violin: Ana Brandao: Ana ( 1998, Portugal)plays the violin since the age of 9. As soon as she was old enough, she got accepted in ARTAVE, a professional music school, where she worked with professor Raquel Costa as her main teacher. Later on, she started working with Miguel Siomões, in Braga. She participated and won several competitions, among which the Fundão International Competition, Prémio Jovens Músicos, Intern competition Maria Maia. Currently, she studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, under guidance of Kees Koelmans.
Viola: Lotte Grotholt: Lotte (1998) started playing the violin at the age of 7. She switched to viola at the age of 16. She have had masterclasses with: Jurgen Kussmaul, Thomas Riebl, Jane Rogers , Lucy van Dael and Nobuko Imai. She is currently studying with Marjolein Dispa at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam( 2nd year of bachelor). The instrument she is playing on is a Georg Aman ( 1704).
Cello: Dominka Kaczmarczyk: Dominika ( 1997 , Poland) plays the cello since the age of seven. Since 2011 she has cooperated with many ensembles, such as Sarabanda String Quartet with which she won a second prize in the XIV International Chamber Music Competition in Jawor and In 2014 together with her piano trio the third prize in a National Contest organised by CEA (Artistic Education Center). Currently she is studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with professor Jelena Očić.
