Iberia Brass Quintet

In de Oosterkerk:

Biografie

Iberia Brass Quintet set sail as such in September 2016 as a mere project for a school-subject. Formed by three musicians from Portuguese origin and two of Spanish origin, this group experienced a remarkably intense activity during its first year, playing in all kinds of exams and recitals. Always, on the other hand, under the protection of the prestigious Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where these musicians perfect their studies of music.

In its second year of existence, these five musicians decided to take the initiative of -as an experienced group- giving a more professional approach to the group, leaving behind the “school exams-driven” character of the project. They began to work on a more demanding repertoire, combining pieces of different historical eras and varied musical styles, ranging from transcriptions of renaissance works to contemporary music, going through purely romantic styles.

Around the end of 2017, they participated in competitions such as the ‘Who’s Next’ in Almere (Holland), or the renowned Grachtenfestival Concours.

After a 2018 of diverse concerts around Amsterdam, in September, the quintet embarked on the adventure of a tour around Portugal. After several concerts on different towns, they reaped a huge success among the portuguese audiences. They were even recorded and interviewed for the local television and so overall, had a very good reception.
