Biografie

Bibi Afshar-Shirazi is een Brits/Iraanse harpiste die momenteel woont en studeert in Nederland. Geboren en getogen in Londen begon ze haar studie aan de junior-afdeling van Guildhall School of Music and Drama en Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Ze studeerde daar bij gerenommeerde musici zoals Gabriella Dall’Olio, Sue Rothstein en Frances Kelly. Bibi heeft opgetreden als ensemble- en orkestspeler op iconische Britse podia zoals Cadogan Hall, LSO St. Luke’s en Southbank Centre en daarnaast deelgenomen aan in Londen gevestigde festivals en concoursen zoals the North London Camac Competition.

Bibi studeert sinds 2018 aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam bij de internationaal gerenommeerde harpisten en docenten Erika Waardenburg en Gwyneth Wentink.

Bibi is actief als kamermusicus en heeft samen met klarinettiste Marta Pedreira Aldao in 2022 een harp/klarinetduo opgericht. Het duo richt zich onder andere op het incorporeren van interdisciplinaire kunst in hun programma’s.

Bibi Afshar-Shirazi is a British/Iranian harpist currently living and studying in The Netherlands. Born and raised in London, she began her studies in the junior departments of Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, studying with reputable musicians such as Gabriella Dall’Olio, Sue Rothstein and Frances Kelly. Bibi has performed in iconic British venues such as Cadogan Hall, LSO St. Luke’s and Southbank Centre as an ensemble and orchestral player, as well as participating in London-based festivals and competitions, such as the North London Camac Competition.

Since 2018, Bibi has been studying at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with internationally renowned harpists and teachers Erika Waardenburg and Gwyneth Wentink.

She is an active chamber music player and since 2022 established  her harp/clarinet duo with co-collaborator Marta Pedreira Aldao, which aims to incorporate interdisciplinary arts within their ensemble.
