Biografie

Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde holds a Master’s in baroque cello from the University of Montreal, where she studied with Susie Napper, and recently completed her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a student of Viola de Hoog. In 2011 she graduated from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, receiving the Prix avec Grande Distinction. She has performed as a soloist in concertos with the Orchestre Symphonique du Conservatoire de Montréal and the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Sweelinck Baroque Orchestra.

In 2011, she was awarded the loan of a cello and bow from the instrument bank of les Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. Throughout her musical education, she took part in numerous international music courses on full scholarships, such as The Banff Centre, Le Domaine Forget, the Young Artist Program of the National Arts Centre, the Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival and the quartet workshop of the Orford Arts Centre.

In Montreal, she regularly performed with many ensembles including the early music groups Ensemble Caprice, les Rendez-vous baroque français, Les Lys Naissants and the chamber ensembles Epsilon, quintette à cordes, Ensemble Arkea, Ensemble Allogène and joined l’Ensemble Paramirabo for their Canadian tour and artist residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Recently, she performed several recitals with fortepianist and harpsichord player Artem Belogurov in the Netherlands in such halls as the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ and the Scheepvaart Museum. Together, they also performed in Italy, Canada, the US and Japan. In 2015 and 2016, she joined the ensemble Cordavento and recorder player Erik Bosgraaf for concerts in Belgium and the Netherlands, played with the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht and was an artist in residence for the 2016 Fortepiano Festival Zaandedijk.

In August 2016 she will perform a recital of Italian baroque music for cello as a part of the Festival Oude Muziek Fringe in Utrecht.
